2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable.  Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish. God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.

  1. If you have never read paragraphs 2270 – through 2275 of the Catechism, do it. If you say abortion is OK after this, I pray you will change your mind before you face your judgement. Every human life, born and unborn, is valuable. Living a chaste life will guide a person to realize there is more to life than themselves. Respect Life, end abortion.

  2. today many catholic clergy and catholic believers support anti catholic politicians .They also to ignore the rights of the unborn and support same sex marriage. This I reason is because the catholic church leaders are not promoting better education on the roll of every catholic on the catechism of the faith.Evan the pope aside from the infallible part of his position he is off base on his personal comments on same sex /and homosexual activity.Even the lay mans church groups like Knights of Columbus and other church groups lean towards social functions rather than catholic leadership.

  3. […] The Didache is an ancient catechism in the church that dates back to the first century.  The issue of abortion is nothing new, but an ongoing battle for the unborn.  Also regarding abortion, the catechism states “Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law” (CCC para 2271). […]
