Pope Francis released a special edition of his monthly prayer intention via “The Pope Video,” that we #PrayForTheWorld so the coronavirus pandemic may end.

Pope Francis’ Worldwide Prayer Network of the Apostleship of Prayer developed “The Pope Video” initiative in 2016 as a way to spread the Holy Father’s monthly prayer intentions on the challenges humanity faces in a video based format.

In the video, he makes a special call for prayer for all the sick and suffering from COVID-19, and thanks all who pray for those affected no matter their religion.

“Let us pray for the pandemic to end!”

In the video, Pope Francis invokes the Blessed Virgin Mary with the oldest known prayer to the Theotokos known as the Sub Tuum Praesidium meaning Under Your Protection.

Read below the full prayer intention of Pope Francis, and watch special edition of”The Pope Video” for March:

“Let us all pray together for the sick, for the people who are suffering.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise
our pleas — we who are put to the test — and deliver us from every danger. O
glorious and blessed Virgin.

I thank all Christians, all the men and women of good will who pray at this
moment, in unison, whichever religious tradition they belong to.”
