Church of the Resurrection in Lansing, Michigan was vandalized on Oct 8th.

Security camera video shows just before midnight three individuals approached the church and spray-painted the sidewalk, signage, and doors before fleeing.

The red graffiti spelled out rhetoric like: “Feminism not fascism,” “smash patriarchy,” “Restore Roe,” “Is overturning Roe worth your life or your democracy?,” and “Kill all Christian nationalists.”

Hours of cleanup went into washing away the spray paint. The sign outside the church now reads: “To whomever vandalized our church: We forgive you and we are praying for you.”

Father Steven Mattson from the Diocese of Lansing said he was disappointed to see the graffiti right before celebrating Sunday Mass.

“A lot of people come in from the parking lot so not that many saw it. But I did address it in my homily.

I said what do we do when people respond with anger or even hatred to us. Well we do what Jesus would say which would be we forgive them and pray for them.

I think in a spiritual way, this happening that night was a certain sign to us that the healing that the Lord offers is something Satan hates”

The Lansing Police Department says they have officers actively investigating the case.
