Following his return to Rome two weeks ago, Cardinal George Pell had a private audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican yesterday.

The Holy See Press Office said only the meeting took place on the 12th, adding no further details on the nature of their meeting.

Pope Francis met Pell with a handshake, greeting him: “It’s good to see you,” their meeting capture briefly on video.

Thank you.
Thank you, Holy Father.
Thank you for your witness.

The meeting was said to last about half an hour, and was described as “very warm and cordial.” Afterwards, Pell told reporters it went “very well.”
