Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg, in a post on his own social media site, said he is “no longer an atheist” and that he “now believes religion is very important.”

This statement was in the response to a question in the comment section of a Facebook post where Zuckerberg shared his status as “celebrating Christmas”.

A user asked under the post “But Aren’t You Atheist?”, to which Zuckerberg replied “No. I was raised Jewish and then I went through a period where I questioned things, but now I believe religion is very important.”

Zuckerberg, who has identified as an atheist for years, didn’t elaborate further on his beliefs.

Zuckerberg, in a public letter on the occasion of the birth of his daughter, wrote a letter pledging to donate 99% of his Facebook stock to philanthropic causes. In August on 2016, he and his wife met with Pope Francis to discuss ways to bring communication technology to the world’s poor.

    • I agree, I was thinking… It is a start, not yet a “new beginning in the Christian sense, but at least it is a start. Let us pray his heart has been opened to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.

    • Excellent point! He said he only went through a period of questioning things. At least in the quotes provided in this article. He never said he is no longer Jewish. Seems he was merely supporting those who celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah as he himself was celebrating.

  1. I thank God that Zuckerberg can finally be humbled to accept the existence of the Almighty God. Let God grant him more Grace to see more. I can help you (Zuckerberg) to get ideas on how to bring communication technology to the world’s poor.

  2. I agree, the articleis not misleading. As Christians we should build from this not scrutinize it. I also pray for his continued conversion to find objective absolute truth in Jesus and our holy mother church Christ founded through his apostles..

  3. I was clicking on reload to make sure it wasn’t eye of the Tiber or the onion. He also pledged his support to PP when his daughter was born. We’re all called to be saints. Maybe his holiness is the channel to his conversion. Sing out his goodness.
