Pope Francis, before celebrating  Mass in the Christ the Redeemer square in Santa Cruz, used the nearby Burger King as a makeshift sacristy.

According to the Associated Press, Francis had been riding in the Popemobile for about a half hour when his entourage approached the manager of the Burger King. They “asked for help because this was an appropriate place and we had closed” to customers, the AP said.

The windows were draped with white curtains and the building was guarded by members of the Swiss Guard.

Burger King posted on Facebook thanking the pope “for choosing the BK restaurant as your sacristy.”
