A relic of Pope Saint Paul II was stolen from the Basilica of the Blessed Sacrament in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Rector of the Polish Catholic Mission in Argentina, Father Jorge Jacek Twarog, shared the news Sunday that the relic had been stolen.

The relic is a drop of blood of JPII in a small square golden frame and mounted on the late saint’s coat of arms (pictured above).

The relic was personally delivered to Father Twarog by the Archbishop of Krakow in 2016 after a request by Julia Tiraboschi, president of the prayer group “Spiritual Children of John Paul II”, who meet in the basilica once a month for the recitation of the Holy Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration and celebration of Mass.

Local parish priest Father Rafael Cáceres Olav and the entire Catholic community there “are doing everything possible to find the relic and praying for its soon finding.”

They asked others spread the news of the theft and pray to ensure its return.
