Pope Francis shared his monthly prayer intention video for November, urging the Faithful to pray that progress in robotics and AI serve humankind.
Pope Francis’ Worldwide Prayer Network of the Apostleship of Prayer developed “The Pope Video” initiative in 2016 as a way to spread the Holy Father’s monthly prayer intentions on the challenges humanity faces in a video based format.
For the month of November, Pope Francis shared his prayer intention “that the progress of robotics and artificial intelligence may always serve humankind.”
Pope Francis has accompanied his video with an official prayer so you can pray for his monthly intention:
you created your children with love
and you gave them intelligence and creativity,
capable of promoting progress and happiness
of all humankind.
Send your Spirit on those who work
in the advancement of science and technology,
so that they can bear very abundant fruits,
and always be motivated
for the greater good of the human person,
of society and of our planet.
Accompanied with the Holy Father’s intention are his proposals for the month of November:
- Learn about the advances in robotics and Artificial Intelligence, for example, in relation to renewable energy, so that you are able to engage with people involved in these areas, especially the younger generations.
- Promote a moment of prayer, as a family, or in your local community, praying that specialists in the development of robotics and Artificial Intelligence may always be motivated by the common good and not pressured by interests that do not dignify the human person.
- Examine your use of technology, the choices you make in managing your time, and evaluating what type of media you engage in. This examination will help you use all these tools in a healthy and safe way.

Artificial intelligence is at the heart of the epochal change we are experiencing.
Robotics can make a better world possible if it is joined to the common good.
Indeed, if technological progress increases inequalities, it is not true progress.
Future advances should be oriented towards respecting the dignity of the person and of Creation.
Let us pray that the progress of robotics and artificial intelligence may always serve humankind… we could say, may it “be human.”
