In John 14:16 Our Lord said, “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever.”

Our Advocate, also referred to as a Counselor, Paraclete, or Helper, is the Holy Spirit. Pentecost celebrates the outpouring of the Holy Spirit as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles, and is a beautiful, triumphant time in the Church.  

But in order to fully enjoy the grace that flows forth during Pentecost, we must prepare our hearts. There is no substitute for prayer—it is as necessary as breathing.  

Pray with your brothers and sisters, with the whole Church, that the Holy Spirit would dwell in our hearts!
