Pope Francis recently returned from South Sudan and spoke about the love of God for people with same-sex attraction during an in-flight press conference.
When asked about families who reject their children due to their sexual orientation, the Pope emphasized that people with homosexual tendencies should not be marginalized and that condemning them is a sin.
He quoted the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which states that such individuals should be treated with respect and not subjected to unjust discrimination.
Pope Francis has previously addressed the issue of homosexuality during in-flight press conferences.
He quoted his statement from his 2013 Brazil trip, “If a person with homosexual tendencies is a believer, seeks God, who am I to judge him?”
He added, “During an in-flight press conference returning from Ireland in 2018, I said that parents should not kick out children with this orientation out of their homes.”
Pope Francis said during the press conference, “People with homosexual tendencies are children of God. God loves them. God accompanies them. To condemn someone like this is a sin. Criminalizing people with homosexual tendencies is an injustice.”
