During his flight back to Rome from Singapore on September 13, Pope Francis addressed the dilemma facing U.S. Catholic voters in the upcoming presidential election.
Pope Francis emphasized that Catholics must vote and “choose the lesser evil,” highlighting the moral challenges posed by both candidates.
Referring to Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, he stated, “Both are against life: the one who wants to throw out the migrants and the one who kills children.”
Pope Francis reiterated the Church’s stance on abortion, saying “an abortion is to kill a human being. It is murder.”
He also condemned the rejection of migrants, saying, “Migration is a right, and it was already present in Sacred Scripture… The one who does not care for migrants is lacking; it is a sin.”
The Pope urged American Catholics to “think in conscience” when choosing between the candidates.
“In political morality, it is generally said that not voting is ugly, it’s not good. One must vote,” he concluded.
