Pope Francis shared his monthly prayer intention video for December, urging the faithful to pray for pilgrims of hope.

Pope Francis’ Worldwide Prayer Network of the Apostleship of Prayer developed “The Pope Video” initiative in 2016 as a way to spread the Holy Father’s monthly prayer intentions on the challenges humanity faces in a video based format.

“Christian hope is a gift from God that fills our lives with joy. Today, we need it so much; the world needs it so much.

When you don’t know if tomorrow you’ll be able to feed your children, or if what you’re studying will allow you to have a decent job, it’s easy to fall into discouragement.

Where can we find hope? Hope is like an anchor—an anchor you cast with a rope that holds firm on the shore. We must cling tightly to this rope of hope.

Let us help one another discover this encounter with Christ that gives us life. Let us walk together as pilgrims of hope to celebrate life, which includes the upcoming Jubilee as a meaningful milestone.

Let us fill our daily lives with the gift of hope that God provides and allow it to reach everyone seeking it through us. Never forget: hope does not disappoint—ever.

Let us pray that the upcoming Jubilee strengthens us in faith, helps us recognize the risen Christ in the midst of our lives, and transforms us into pilgrims of hope.”
