On November 20, during his general audience in St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis revealed the canonization dates for two young Catholics, Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.

Carlo Acutis will be canonized during the Jubilee for Adolescents, taking place in Rome from April 25 to 27, 2025. Known for his devotion to the Eucharist and expertise in computer technology, Acutis created an online exhibition of Eucharistic miracles and inspired many through his faith. He died of leukemia at age 15 in 2006.

Pier Giorgio Frassati, celebrated for his service to the poor and his adventurous spirit, will be canonized during the Jubilee for Young People, scheduled for July 28 to August 3, 2025. Frassati, a member of the Dominican Third Order and Catholic Action, balanced a life of deep prayer and social activism before dying of polio in 1925 at the age of 24.

“I will canonize Blessed Carlo Acutis on the day of adolescents and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati on the day of the youth next year,” Pope Francis announced reported Crux, drawing applause from the gathered crowd of pilgrims.

Both Acutis and Frassati are seen as relatable figures for today’s youth, embodying a spirituality rooted in everyday life while addressing contemporary challenges.

The events will take place during the Church’s Jubilee of Hope, which runs throughout 2025.
