Did you know that some saints bore the marks of Christ—literally?
In this episode of The Catholic Talk Show, Ryan Scheel and Ryan DellaCrosse speak with Dr. Paul Kengor to discuss the phenomenon of The Stigmata. They share the incredible stories of three modern stigmatists who miraculously shared in Christ’s suffering through His wounds!
1. Padre Pio
Despite skepticism from scientists and even some within the Church, Padre Pio’s stigmata baffled medical professionals and defied natural explanation. “He starts bleeding from his hands, he starts bleeding from his feet, from his sides, and he just can’t believe what’s happening to him… How do you fake 50 years of constant bleeding in your hands and feet?” Dr. Kengor says his stigmata was a constant, daily occurrence that drew countless souls closer to God.
2. Saint Gemma Galgani
Called the “daughter of the Passion,” St. Gemma Galgani’s stigmata would appear and disappear in sync with the events of Christ’s Passion. She was also known to engage in intense spiritual battles. “She went to battle against demons and devils in the way that Padre Pio did, she is one of the most powerful intercessors and companions when they do exorcisms,” Dr. Kengor recounts.
3. Blessed Elena Aiello
Blessed Elena Aiello was an Italian stigmatic nun gifted with prophetic visions. Dr. Kengor explains “she predicted the death of Mussolini, all the stuff in World War II. Then she predicts the next war, a giant fireball from the sky, all things that haven’t happened yet.” He says Blessed Elena’s messages call us to repentance and readiness in the face of spiritual and worldly challenges.
The guys say that these saint’s incredible stories will inspire your faith!
