Pope Francis continues his stay at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital as doctors caution that while he is not in immediate danger, he remains at risk due to pneumonia affecting both lungs.

On February 21, Dr. Sergio Alfieri confirmed that the 88-year-old pontiff will stay hospitalized for at least another week. Though not on a ventilator, he requires occasional oxygen support. The primary concern is the risk of sepsis, should the infection spread to his bloodstream.

The Pope’s treatment involves steroids and antibiotics, requiring careful dosage adjustments to avoid weakening his immune system. Doctors note that while he has shown slight improvement in recent days, his recovery remains uncertain.

Despite his condition, Pope Francis has continued working from his hospital room. On February 21, he prayed in the hospital chapel. However, the Vatican has since canceled all papal events through February 23, including the Jubilee of Deacons Mass. Whether he will deliver the Sunday Angelus remains unreported.

Amid speculation about resignation, several cardinals dismissed the notion in Italian media reports, insisting Francis remains committed to his duties.

Doctors emphasize that his recovery will take time, and his chronic respiratory issues will persist even after discharge.

Please pray for the health of Pope Francis and his intentions! 🙏
