2 Kings 4:8-11,14-16
(8) One day Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a prominent woman; and she persuaded him to eat bread. So it was, that as often as he passed by, he turned in there to eat bread. (9) She said to her husband, “See now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God who passes by us continually. (10) Please let us make a little room on the roof. Let us set for him there a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp stand. When he comes to us, he can stay there.” (11) One day he came there, and he went to the room and lay there. (14) He said, “What then is to be done for her?” Gehazi answered, “Most certainly she has no son, and her husband is old.” (15) He said, “Call her.” When he had called her, she stood in the door. (16) He said, “At this season, when the time comes around, you will embrace a son.” She said, “No, my lord, you man of God, do not lie to your servant.”

Psalms 89:2-3,16-19
(2) I indeed declare, “Love stands firm forever. You established the heavens. Your faithfulness is in them.” (3) “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David, my servant, (16) In your name they rejoice all day. In your righteousness, they are exalted. (17) For you are the glory of their strength. In your favor, our horn will be exalted. (18) For our shield belongs to Yahweh; our king to the Holy One of Israel. (19) Then you spoke in vision to your saints, and said, “I have given strength to the warrior. I have exalted a young man from the people.

Romans 6:3-4,8-11
(3) Or don’t you know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? (4) We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. (8) But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him; (9) knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no more has dominion over him! (10) For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God. (11) Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 10:37-42
(37) He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me. (38) He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me, isn’t worthy of me. (39) He who seeks his life will lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake will find it. (40) He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me. (41) He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. He who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. (42) Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, most certainly I tell you he will in no way lose his reward.”

  1. Just incredible, great chapters, it’s very cool that you post this, because I haven’t read the Bible for a long time and wanted to get back to reading, but I didn’t have time, and then your blog, just great. I remember most of all the passion of christ images, it’s something incredible, it’s hard to imagine that all this happened once. This is probably my favourite chapter of the whole Bible, but maybe when I read it last time I was still quite young, so I could have missed important and interesting details.
