Wisdom of Solomon 2:23-3:9
(23) Because God created man for incorruption, And made him an image of his own proper being; (24) But by the envy of the devil death entered into the world, And those who are of his portion make trial thereof. (1) But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, And no torment will touch them. (2) In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died; And their departure was accounted to be their hurt, (3) And their journeying away from us to be their ruin: But they are in peace. (4) For even if in the sight of men they be punished, Their hope is full of immortality; (5) And having borne a little chastening, they will receive great good; Because God made trial of them, and found them worthy of himself. (6) As gold in the furnace he proved them, And as a whole burnt offering he accepted them. (7) And in the time of their visitation they will shine forth, And as sparks among stubble they will run to and fro. (8) They will judge nations, and have dominion over peoples; And the Lord will reign over them for evermore. (9) They that trust on him will understand truth, And the faithful will abide with him in love; Because grace and mercy are to his chosen.

Psalms 34:2-3,16-19
(2) My soul shall boast in Yahweh. The humble shall hear of it, and be glad. (3) Oh magnify Yahweh with me. Let us exalt his name together. (16) Yahweh’s face is against those who do evil, to cut off their memory from the earth. (17) The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. (18) Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. (19) Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all.

Luke 17:7-10
(7) But who is there among you, having a servant plowing or keeping sheep, that will say, when he comes in from the field, ‘Come immediately and sit down at the table,’ (8) and will not rather tell him, ‘Prepare my supper, clothe yourself properly, and serve me, while I eat and drink. Afterward you shall eat and drink’? (9) Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded? I think not. (10) Even so you also, when you have done all the things that are commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy servants. We have done our duty.’”
