Romans 3:21-30
(21) But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the law and the prophets; (22) even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all those who believe. For there is no distinction, (23) for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; (24) being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; (25) whom God sent to be an atoning sacrifice, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the passing over of prior sins, in God’s forbearance; (26) to demonstrate his righteousness at this present time; that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him who has faith in Jesus. (27) Where then is the boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. (28) We maintain therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. (29) Or is God the God of Jews only? Isn’t he the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, (30) since indeed there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith, and the uncircumcised through faith.

Psalms 130:1-6
(1) Out of the depths I have cried to you, Yahweh. (2) Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions. (3) If you, Yah, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? (4) But there is forgiveness with you, therefore you are feared. (5) I wait for Yahweh. My soul waits. I hope in his word. (6) My soul longs for the Lord more than watchmen long for the morning; more than watchmen for the morning.

Luke 11:47-54
(47) Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. (48) So you testify and consent to the works of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their tombs. (49) Therefore also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute, (50) that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; (51) from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation. (52) Woe to you lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You didn’t enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.” (53) As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him; (54) lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.
