Do you do these? 🤔

In this episode of The Catholic Gentleman, John Heinen and Devin Schadt discuss four common behaviors that can hinder your relationships. They explain how to reorder your life to avoid these pitfalls and cultivate virtue and love in all things!

1. Lack of Self-Care
Neglecting to care for yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually can signal an inability to care for others. Devin explains “your care for yourself demonstrates that you’re capable. If you lack self-care in many areas, you don’t have the capacity to care.” By prioritizing your own well-being, you become better equipped to love and serve others.

2. Too Much Self-Focus
While self-care is important, overemphasis on appearance or personal achievements can conflict with Christ’s call to humility and authentic love for others. Devin warns “when we start to think that we’re more important than we are, we definitely prioritize ourselves above others.”

3. Not Being Grateful
Excessive negativity can drain joy from any situation. Devin says “what we are doing is we’re blaming the external circumstances and situations and people that are surrounding us.” Instead, embracing God’s plan with gratitude can bring peace and strength to a relationship.

4. Not Trusting God
Doubting your worth undermines your ability to love authentically. John shares “when you find your identity when you go before the Throne of God and you say, God, I’m your son, do with me as thou does see fit–insecurities start falling away.” Trusting you are a beloved child of God allows you to love others without fear or doubt.

The gentlemen say that recognizing and overcoming these behaviors will help you cultivate stronger, more loving relationships.
