Pope Francis shared his monthly prayer intention video for May, urging the faithful to pray for men and women religious, and seminarians worldwide.

Pope Francis’ Worldwide Prayer Network of the Apostleship of Prayer developed “The Pope Video” initiative in 2016 as a way to spread the Holy Father’s monthly prayer intentions on the challenges humanity faces in a video based format.

“Every vocation is a diamond in the rough
that needs to be polished and worked on, to be
shaped on all its
sides.

A good priest, a nun must be
above all, a man, a woman
shaped by the grace of the
Lord from their limitations and willing to
lead a life of prayer and dedication
to the testimony of the Gospel. Their
training must be comprehensive; it should
begin from the seminary and the novitiate, in direct contact with the
lives of other people.

This is
essential. Formation does not end at a
specific moment but continues
throughout life,
through the years integrating the
person intellectually, humanly, emotionally,
spiritually and also preparing them
to live in community. Community life is
enriching because sometimes it can be difficult since
living together is not the same as living in
community.

Let us pray that the religious
men and women,
the seminarians may grow in their vocational
journey through human, pastoral, spiritual, and community
training that leads them to be credible
witnesses of the Gospel.”
