I lift up the soul of Brian Dennehy, who died this week. He brought so much joy to Stratford (Shakespeare) Festival in Ontario, when his steel trap memory wowed and delighted audiences of Waiting for Godot, The Homecoming, Twelfth Night. In his 70s no less! Such a man’s man, yet he brought dignity to all blue collar roles through his exceptional artistic talent, from fathers of Jack Black and Russell Crowe, to a true crime serial killer. He went mano a mano daily with his demons, believing in them, tormented by them, but unafraid. May I experience that fortitude to wear them down until they’re banished forever by God’s grace. RIP now, as you will surely be delivered from pains of Purgatory by Our Lady very soon. I’m sure your earthly purification process merits divine reward. Thank you for your work. Amen.
