Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf, renowned for his roles in movies like “Transformers” and “Indiana Jones,” has taken a significant turn in his personal life, embracing Catholicism after a deep spiritual journey.

LaBeouf’s conversion was confirmed on New Year’s Eve at Old Mission Santa Inés Parish in Solvang, California, where he received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

This transition follows a challenging period in LaBeouf’s life, marked by legal troubles and personal struggles. However, it was his portrayal of St. Padre Pio in the 2022 biopic “Padre Pio” that sparked a profound change in him. The time spent preparing for this role at a Franciscan monastery led to a religious awakening, culminating in his decision to become Catholic.

LaBeouf’s journey to faith was not just a solitary pursuit but also involved the guidance of the Capuchin Franciscans.

Brother Alexander Rodriguez, LaBeouf’s confirmation sponsor, revealed that the actor is even considering a vocation to the diaconate in the future. “He just spontaneously said, ‘I want to become a deacon,’ and he still feels that way,” Rodriguez shared with CNA.

The confirmation ceremony was also a poignant moment for LaBeouf. “He started crying a lot after receiving communion,” Brother Rodriguez recalled to ChurchPOP.

The Capuchin Franciscans expressed their joy in welcoming LaBeouf into the Catholic Church. “His decision to fully enter the Church is a testament to his sincere desire to grow in his relationship with God and live out the Gospel values,” they said in a statement.

They have invited the public to keep LaBeouf in their prayers as he continues to deepen his faith.

Pray for Shia LaBeouf!
