Hebrews 12:4-7,11-15
(4) You have not yet resisted to blood, striving against sin; (5) and you have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children, “My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him; (6) For whom the Lord loves, he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives.” (7) It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline? (11) All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby. (12) Therefore lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees, (13) and make straight paths for your feet, so what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed. (14) Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord, (15) looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it;

Psalms 103:1-2,13-14,17-18
(1) Praise Yahweh, my soul! All that is within me, praise his holy name! (2) Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; (13) Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him. (14) For he knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust. (17) But Yahweh’s loving kindness is from everlasting to everlasting with those who fear him, his righteousness to children’s children; (18) to those who keep his covenant, to those who remember to obey his precepts.

Mark 6:1-6
(1) He went out from there. He came into his own country, and his disciples followed him. (2) When the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many hearing him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things?” and, “What is the wisdom that is given to this man, that such mighty works come about by his hands? (3) Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judah, and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” They were offended at him. (4) Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own house.” (5) He could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people, and healed them. (6) He marveled because of their unbelief. He went around the villages teaching.
