1 Kings 17:1-6
(1) Elijah the Tishbite, who was one of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As Yahweh, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” (2) Then Yahweh’s word came to him, saying, (3) “Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan. (4) You shall drink from the brook. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” (5) So he went and did according to Yahweh’s word; for he went and lived by the brook Cherith that is before the Jordan. (6) The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.

Psalms 121:1-8
(1) I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? (2) My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth. (3) He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. (4) Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. (5) Yahweh is your keeper. Yahweh is your shade on your right hand. (6) The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. (7) Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. (8) Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.

Matthew 5:1-12
(1) Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him. (2) He opened his mouth and taught them, saying, (3) “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. (4) Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. (5) Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. (6) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. (7) Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. (8) Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. (9) Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. (10) Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. (11) “Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. (12) Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
