In a touching tribute, Pope Francis sent a heartfelt telegram to Bishop Patrick McKinney of Nottingham, expressing his deep sorrow over the passing of Indi Gregory.

The Pope’s message was read today at Nottingham Cathedral during Indi’s funeral service.

The telegram conveyed Pope Francis’ profound condolences to Indi’s parents, Dean and Claire, and to all those grieving this immense loss. The Holy Father’s words were a balm to the sorrowful hearts gathered there, as he wrote he “was saddened to learn of the death of little Indi Gregory.” He extended his spiritual support to the bereaved family, emphasizing his closeness during the difficult time.

Pope Francis entrusted Indi to the “tender and loving hands of our Heavenly Father” and joined the mourners in celebrating the brief, yet meaningful life of this “precious child of God.”

The Pope’s closing words drew from Scripture, citing Jesus Christ’s teaching, “Let the little children come to me… for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs” (Matthew 19:14).

Pope Francis prayed for enduring comfort, strength, and peace for the family and all attendees, said Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Parolin in the telegram.

Pray for Indi Gregory!
